Language
Researching the Sioux helped identify some interesting facts about their language. The Siouan language was spread out across the plains (and Canada) because the people were nomadic and the language moved around when they did. North of Mexico, their language was one of the most spoken Native American languages and the three dialects Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota were all easily understood across the Sioux Nation. In addition, the Sioux also used sign language to communicate with other tribes. Their language was really important to the Sioux overall because they use storytelling to tell their history, religion, and beliefs.
